 | We Believe... that energy should be clean, affordable, and secure. We believe that before we make economic war for the energy resources of other countries, we should maximize our ability to create our own energy both as an effort of ethical conduct and national security. We believe that pricing should be a result of supply and demand as true capitalism prescribes, rather than the arbitrary (and usually profitable) estimation of oil prospectors who stand to make a fortune by overcharging underpaid Americans. We need to invest in new alternative forms of energy, and also in making current alternatives affordable and accessible. Solar, wind, water, geothermal and nuclear power are all viable alternatives available now, and need to be used wherever possible. The government should be committed to giving consumers more environmentally friendly choices, rather than making choices for them and imposing tax hikes as enforcement. Taxpayers are perfectly capable of making responsible decisions for themselves. Until such time as cleaner energy becomes more widely available, we support a "drill here, drill now, drill responsibly" philosophy in an effort to increase our national security and decrease unnecessary armed conflict. We do not believe that increasing taxes through cap-and-trade on a vital aspect of daily American life will help to meet their needs, improve their lives, or efficiently address the health of our environment. |
